Holm & Nesti is a furniture brand somewhere between Scandinavian and pop: ash wood and solid-colour panels. I built it myself: the name, the collection in 3D, the rendered photography and the catalogue.
The product shots and the catalogue
A new furniture collection goes out into the world with two things: the product shots and the catalogue that collects them. For Holm & Nesti I did both, and the shots are renders.
I started with the name and the colours, then came the furniture, the photo set and the layout. The catalogue is below, so you can leaf through it page by page.

Nine chairs and seven pieces of furniture
The chairs are 3D models by other designers: I scaled them to the right dimensions and finished them in the collection’s materials: oiled ash and seven solid colours.
I designed the furniture from scratch. Almost every piece comes from a single system, Telaio nordico (‘Nordic frame’): an ash structure with lacquered panels that covers everything from the bedside table to the kitchen.
A studio photo shoot, done in CGI
The shots are set up as they would be in a photo studio, with coloured flats, softboxes and a spotlight. Each piece of furniture has its own monochrome set, with wall and floor in the same colour; the chairs sit on a milk-white backdrop, the same shade as the catalogue paper.
Then come the close-ups of the materials: the grain of the ash and the loops of the bouclé, with the depth of field of a real lens.
The catalogue takes its colours from the sets
The catalogue measures 230 × 287.5 mm. Each chapter opens on a solid cobalt page, and every page picks up the wall colour of its photo.
At the back is the technical data: the drawings come from the same 3D models as the photos, with the dimensions of every piece.
