T Magazine is the architecture and interiors magazine created by FUL Magazine and TaniniHome, a Florentine furniture company. I handled its art direction and editorial design, right through to the final print-ready files.
A showroom on paper
TaniniHome has worked in bathroom furniture, interiors and interior design since 1945. With FUL Magazine it wanted a publication of its own: a real magazine rather than a catalogue, a showroom on paper to read, leaf through and keep.
Inside there are interviews, reportage, renovations, homes, materials and furnishing solutions, presented together with designers, architects and international partners.
Every issue starts from a theme
Each issue grows out of a visual concept tied to a theme, and the theme drives everything: the palette, the image treatment, the type weights, the rhythm of the opening spreads.
The content varied a great deal: full-page architectural photography next to long texts, technical drawings next to moodboards. It needed a design system solid enough to be recognisable and flexible enough not to box it in.
The style is the brand’s own
We started with TaniniHome’s aesthetic, and that’s where the hierarchy and the palette come from. We chose clean, readable typefaces, suited to the long texts of a magazine.
Together with the editorial team, I followed the work from the first look at the content through to the print-ready files, so that every feature would stand on its own and as part of the issue. Open it at random, at any spread, and you can already tell which magazine it is.
